Wolfarth was 42 years old and lived in Havertown, PA. He was a dedicated
paramedic and flight medic.Tom died on June 22, 2009 after a long battle with
brain cancer. Wolfie was born in Pittsburg
and later moved to Montgomery County. He
graduated from Conestoga High School in 1986. After many days of fun,
Wolfie found his true calling. He and his brother George followed the same path
into the world of paramedics. In his early days Wolfie
was employed as an EMT for a
private ambulance company in Guthriesville and as a paramedic for Haverford
Township, Chester County Hospital, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, and Springfield
Hospital, where he was the Director of Paramedics. In 2006, Wolfie was asked to
join Delaware County Memorial Hospital as Chief of Paramedics. At DCMH Wolfie
was responsible for major changes in the department and the county. As a Flight Medic for Penn
Star Wolfie made many friends. He was considered a mentor for new medics. He
participated in many educational classes and clinics. Wolfie was a member of the
Delaware County Emergency Services Committee and received numerous awards for
his work, including a commendation from the Philadelphia Fire Department for
helping to rescue a worker who got trapped in a trench in October 2001 and a
heroism award from West Goshen Township for using CPR to save the life of a
resident in May 2000. Anyone that knew Wolfie,
knew his love of life. He loved fast cars and going on long rides with his boys
on his motorcycle. He liked to watch baseball, especially the Phillies and his
favorite player Jimmy Rollins. Wolfie loved to watch football and college
basketball. In addition to working on
cars and bikes, his hobbies included working out, spending time with his
family, walks on the beach, reading, hiking, cooking, jazz and blues music, and
relaxing with a good red wine, a glass of Jack, Crown Royal and a cigar. Most
of all, Wolfie loved to laugh. No one will every forget his bright eyes and
beautiful smile. He simply loved a good time and was the life of any party. Wolfie had a way of making
everyone around him feel special. He was known for his positive disposition
regardless of circumstances and an ever-present smile. To know Wolfie and call him
"friend" meant you had a friend for life. Wolfie is remembered and
loved by his daughter, Allison; his love, Mary Agnes; his parents, Ted and
Ruth; brothers, David (Diane), Ron (Tracy), and George (Janet); sister,
Maryanne (Frank); and his nephews R.J., Ian and Trista and his niece, Nicki.
